BIOGRAPHY
Mikey Lopez returns to Portland Hearts of Pine for his second season and served as a key presence in the heart of the defense in the 2025 inaugural season. Mikey started in 27 matches, played 31, logging 2,411 minutes on the field with 2 assists.
Before joining Portland, Mikey served as Birmingham Legion FC’s first captain and second-ever signing, earning Defender of the Year in 2019, ranking consistently among the top five in defensive duels and tackles, and reaching 100 appearances. He also helped Birmingham reach the 2023 U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinals.
Mikey’s soccer journey began at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he won a national championship as a freshman in 2011. Drafted in the first round of the 2013 MLS SuperDraft by Sporting Kansas City as a Generation Adidas player, he spent three seasons in Kansas City, followed by two with New York City FC, then continued his career with San Antonio FC and Birmingham Legion FC.
