Joining Portland Hearts of Pine after leaving Central Valley Fuego FC in 2024 is center back, Sean Vinberg. A native of Long Island, NY, Sean’s love for soccer began at an early age, driven by a desire to keep up with his older brother, who shared his passion for the sport.
Sean honed his skills at SUNY Oneonta, where he laid the foundation for his soccer career. Following graduation, he traveled abroad, starting his professional journey in the Mongolian Premier League with Khoromkhon FC. He then moved to Germany, where he spent six and a half years competing for several clubs in the lower divisions, including Niendorfer TSV, SC Condor Hamburg, and 1. FC Phönix Lübeck.
Excited for a new chapter, Sean looks forward to both playing for Hearts of Pine and living in Maine, drawn to the mix of ocean views, surrounding forests, and a charming downtown area. Having closely followed Hearts of Pine’s over the past few months, Sean is impressed by the energy and unwavering support surrounding the club—something he hasn’t experienced with past teams—and he can’t wait to step onto the pitch.
