Manager of Partnership Activation
I’m Rebecca Herrigel, Manager of Partner Activation. In my role, I work across all of our departments to activate our partnerships, on gameday, in the community, and everywhere in between. My professional background is in public affairs and communications, and my personal background is as a player of the beautiful game for the last 30 years (oh dear…). I keep the dream alive by playing adult co-ed soccer. I grew up in Atlanta and spent 10 years in Washington, DC–so I am from away. My husband and I moved to Maine in 2020, and now we live in Portland with our daughter and our two cats.
As soon as I heard that Portland was getting a professional men’s soccer team, I had to find a way to be part of it. Soccer is my first love, and I love how playing soccer makes me feel more alive (and it’s a safe space for my competitiveness) and what it can do to unite communities and become a homebase. It’s a sport for people of any age, background, or gender to play with just a ball and a pitch. As part of the club, I hope to build the foundation for a women’s team here in Portland as well. Hearts of Pine is the soccer club of Maine for all Maine soccer fans, and that is incredibly meaningful to me.
Ok, now for the lightning round! My (other) favorite soccer team is the USWNT. My favorite book is Pride and Prejudice, but tied with so many other books. My favorite season is fall. My favorite restaurant in Portland is Tipo. Go Hearts!
