Josh Lane
Head of Marketing, Brand, and Creative

Hi friend, thanks for being curious about Hearts and the good folks bringing this team to life! I’m Josh—a storyteller at heart, using whatever medium I can get my hands on—marketing, design, photography, film, writing—to craft meaning and (hopefully) do some good in this world.
I’ve often been accused of following my heart. From the Cape of Good Hope to the Land of Enchantment, from Black Rock City to Music City, I’ve chased it across continents and through all kinds of creative pursuits. Along the way, I’ve helped build nonprofits, curate multi-day arts and music festivals, develop branding for 125-year-old institutions and 125-day-old ideas, and even launch a professional soccer team. Most recently, my heart led me to Maine.
Like you, I heard about this bold idea taking root in a special little city in the Northeast—The Way Soccer Should Be. I saw a passionate group promising to build the professional team a state with such a rich soccer culture has long deserved. The closer I got, the more I learned, the more I felt that compass in my chest pointing north. “Lead with your heart,” they said. If there’s another way to lead, I haven’t found it.
So while Maine isn’t the place I’m from, it’s the place I’m proud to be. And like you (I hope), I want a local pro team to be proud of—so let’s build it together. Up the Hearts!
P.S. If you’re curious about the person behind the rah-rah, I’m an avid outdoorsman and a lifelong learner chasing as many passions as one can fit into a run-on sentence. Current obsessions include cooking, watercolors, ceramics, climbing, dance, and working on my trilingual aspirations. If you’re a seasoned Mainer with tips on how a newbie can truly get to know this great state and its people, I’m all ears. And if you ever want to talk footy, creativity, or the future of this club—drop me a line. I’d love to connect.
