Hunter Morse returns to Portland Hearts of Pine for his second season after establishing himself as one of the breakout performers of the club’s 2025 inaugural season.
As the starting goalkeeper in 2025, Morse led the team in minutes, delivered multiple standout performances, and played a pivotal role in helping Hearts of Pine secure their first-ever USL League One playoff spot. His shot-stopping ability anchored several of the club’s biggest moments, including back-to-back shutouts to open the year, multiple Team of the Week selections, and a postseason performance that helped push Portland into the semifinal round.
Before arriving in Maine, Morse spent two seasons with FC Cincinnati’s MLS Next Pro side after being selected in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft. In 2024, he contributed to Cincinnati 2’s Northeast Division title, gaining valuable professional experience before making the move to Portland.
Hunter’s journey began at Michigan State University and continued at Western Michigan, where he started all 21 matches in 2022 and earned MAC Goalkeeper of the Year honors after recording 11 shutouts and a 0.47 GAA.
Now entering year two with Hearts of Pine, Morse brings stability, experience, and a presence that elevates the entire defensive unit. Drawn to Maine’s environment and community, he returns with a clear focus: “It’s an exciting and new opportunity to win a championship for Maine.”
